The MVFD will be conducting annual hydrant flushing in the Southern half of the City between August 8th and August 31st. The flushing will take place on scheduled days between 8 am and 5 pm. Please refrain from using your washing machine to launder your clothing during the above mentioned times. Sudden drops in water pressure may be noted, but should correct themselves after a few short minutes. If you experience very low pressure or are temporarily without water, please call the Mount Vernon Water Office immediately at 393-9504. For a complete schedule of dates and locations of the flushing activity see our 2016 Fire Hydrant Flushing Schedule under our Links tab. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will do our best to stay on schedule, but as always, serving the public with Fire and EMS calls are our first duty.

MVFD would like to thank the Ariel Foundation as we were the recipient of an Ariel Foundation grant that allowed us to purchase a Lucas 2 Chest Compression System device. The LUCAS chest compression system is designed to deliver uninterrupted compressions at a consistent rate and depth to facilitate the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). It is designed to deliver automated compressions from initial patient contact through ambulance transport, and throughout hospital care. It truly can be a lifesaver and we have used it many times already in our EMS care of patients.
